WHICH IS THE SOCIAL AND SUBJECTIVE BACKGROUND OF AN FTM SUBJECT?

The transgender FtM phenomena is undergoing a phase of evident expansion if compared to the past and was scarcely investigated in Italy. The aim of this research is to give FtM subjects - who are often socially ignored, invisible and apparently non existing through meaningful representatives of the complexity of our age - the chance to speak their minds, to let their voice be heard in order to implement their visibility. Furthermore, the availability of their narratives seems to offer the chance for a wider reflexion in the clinical context for the deconstruction of gender categories. The field research was made through in depth interviews with eighteen FtM transsexual subjects in Italy. It offers useful witnesses to better understand such complex subjectivities, and in addition gives relevance to key issues that mingle their narratives with the social discourse and the contemporary scientific literature on the phenomena. As a fact, what stands out from the analysis of the interview is the presence of sensible points of disagreement among the interviewed subjects, so far as to put in question the very idea of the existence of a `typical transsexual subject`, and at the same time, the presence of some crucial notes concerning the mediacal - legal procedure in Italy that subjects must attain to in order to obtain the change of identity in registry. The documentary `TransAzioni` is a collection of witnesses of subjects who are going through a path of FtM transition subjects who have already made the medical-legal procedure and intersexual subjects. It aims to be a reflexion about the speech constructions of the interviewed subjects.
